My Lumia 800 is here!

I ordered my Nokia Lumia 800 last Monday (12/12/2011) during a Cyber Monday sale on Amazon.de. Tuesday Morning shipped and on Wednesday in the afternoon was in my hands :) Let me tell you, it’s awesome!! It’s really nice to handle and a joy to use. The Windows Phone OS is amazing on this device.

WhatsApp on Windows Phone OS 7 “Mango”

With the announcement of Skype coming to Windows Phone OS, I think that another app that might be coming on WP OS is WhatsApp Messenger. It is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. Currently WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and also Nokia.

The problem that WhatsApp messenger had with the initial release of WP7 was mainly due to the lack of permissions to access the address book and the lack of Sockets on Windows Phone 7. Continue reading »

Angry Birds on Windows Phone 7 in May

Sorry guys for my previos post.. it was too good to be true.. Apprently we’ll have to wait a little longer for Angry Birds on Windows Phone 7.. It’s going to be launched on May 25th.. sigh.. Better late than never!

Skype Coming to Windows Phone 7 this Fall

According to Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore, Skype is “definitely coming this fall.” He said this whilst speaking at MIX 2011 which started on Tuesday.

With the extra phone integration features that developers are getting next May, you will be able to call your contacts using Skype. The Phone Integration features include Multitasking, Contacts and Calendar access, and also access to the Camera.

Will we see a front facing camera?.. Time will tell us.

Angry Birds on Windows Phone 7 Today

According to WinRumors.com, today should be the day that Angry Birds will be launched on the Windows Phone Platform. Before Windows Phone came out, there was an Angry Birds graphic being displayed, and Rovio said that they didn’t intend to port it to Windows Phone, but obviously this was always happening, as it happened on every other platform. WP7 Marketplace Browser

While surfing,  I found this great website showing all the latest applications that are available for Windows Phone 7 smart phones. You can go, browse and search the marketplace from here.

Something noteworthy of is that the WP7 marketplace is growing at a rate of about 400 apps per week, which is awesome.

Windows Phone 7 Development

Today I started researching and making some Windows Phone 7 apps. The development tools are all free. You just need to download the free tools from here and everything will install automatically.

The Tools

The Windows Phone tools are added to the Visual Studio 2010 IDE so you won’t find any problems starting using it. WP7 apps are developed using Silverlight for Windows Phone or XNA 4.0. Continue reading »

New Windows Phone 7 comes to the family!

Yesterday, I had a nice surprise as we got a new Windows Phone 7 into the family. It’s not mine… it’s my girlfriend’s… but still I can use it :) … mine will come later on. It just arrived last Saturday in Malta!!

Which One

She got the HTC Trophy WP7 mobile. Apparently it’s going to be the only WP7 mobile device to come to the Maltese Islands.. or at least for now.

Windows Phone 7 | The Launch

In less than an hour, the new Windows Phone 7 OS will be unveiled by Microsoft. The launch is going to be held in NYC where they will announce the details surrounding Windows Phone 7 launch dates and devices.
