No Internet | Network Card not working fine
During these last few days, my network on the computer started giving me problems and sometimes the internet will stop working for no reason.
I found this supposed solution… will test it out and see how it goes. If anyone has a better solution, please let me know.
From a command prompt run the following code:
netsh winsock reset
That will reload the tcp/ip suite for windows and can supposedly correct some issues.
If you are using a USB adapter, be it wireless or wired, go into device manager and turn off the ability for windows to shut down the device to save power. You may have to do this on the root hub and controller that match your device.
Will tell you how it goes later on. Goodluck for me

Error 29506 | SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express
When i binged (yes I’m using bing

- Search for Command Prompt in the Start Window (don’t press enter)
- Right click on the shortcut found and select ‘Run as Administrator’
- In the command prompt change the current directory to the folder where the SSMSEE installer is stored
- Enter the following command .SQLServer2005_SSMSEE_x64.msi if you are running Windows 7/Vista 64 bit
- Enter the following command .SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi if you are running Windows 7/Vista 32 bit

ASP.Net Menu Control Problem with IE8
When loading a website that utilises the asp:menu control, in the development machine it works fine but on the server (in our case Windows Server 2003 R2) the menu isn’t shown correctly. Instead a blank panel would be viewed. As a temporary solution, the IE8 compatibility button can be clicked, but some styles might not work well with IE7 compatibility. So below please find the patch for asp:menu which can be applied to Windows or Windows Server, to build IE8-compatible ASP.NET WebForms sites…

Share Folders/External Drives with CMD

Yesterday we had a problem regarding sharing. We needed to share an encrypted drive to be accessed from other computers. To share a folder or any drive, you would normally
- go to the folder/drive to be shared
- right click
- select properties
- select the “Sharing” tab
- Click “Advanced Sharing”
- Check Share this folder
- Click the “Permissions” button
- Change Permissions as needed
But we had a problem. Encrypted drives or any other External Drives, when removed or a user logs off the system, the sharing properties and any others are lost and defaults are loaded again. So we didn’t want that the user would have to go through all the previous steps to share a drive or folder.
So this is the solution we found! Continue reading »

Download Windows 7 Beta: 32-bit or 64-bit

Update: You can try using the direct downloads for Windows 7 Beta 32-bit or 64-bit versions.
As promised, Windows 7 Beta is officially available to download for the general public. You’ll need a Windows Live email address to be able to download it. You can download the Beta from here where you can either choose between the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions.
I just tried to download the 64-bit version but the server is experiencing “technical difficulties”, in other words, a lot of traffic… who knows why
. I’ll be checking in a few more hours. If you are able to download, please let me know.

Jailbreak iPhone to 2.2 on Windows

This week, I finally upgraded my iPhone 2G to version 2.2. It was very easy and fast. (Click here if you need to jailbreak an iPod Touch to version 2.2)
What needs to be downloaded for the upgrade?
Create a folder QuickPWN on your desktop and download the following items in this folder. So that you don’t have to search for your files when needed.
- iTunes v8.xxx – (if you don’t have installed, download from here)
- QuickPWN Tool 2.2 – here
- 2.2 Restore IPSW File
- Bootloader v3.9 – here
- Bootloader v4.6 – here
Install iTunes (if not installed) and the QuickPWN tool.
What should I do Next?
There are many guides to help you upgrade your iPhone 2G and 3G phones. So instead of creating another guide, i’m only showing you the steps you need. Continue reading »

New Windows Vista Ads – Number 1
Ok i’m a bit late on this but last week (on September 5) Microsoft unveiled its first ad from a series of ads. This first advert is about Jerry Seinfield moving around and finds Bill Gates shopping for a pair of shoes. Apparently Microsoft are going to tell the “story” progressively over many ads in the next few weeks. You can see the first ad after the break… Continue reading »
