Unlock and Access your blocked Files

Have you ever experienced any of the following annoying messages when using Windows:

  • Cannot delete file: Access is denied.
  • There has been a sharing violation.
  • The source or destination file may be in use.
  • Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Or did you ever wanted to open Outlook and instead of the Inbox you are shown the ‘The file is in use and cannot be accessed’ popup?

Outlook-Data-File-3

This happened to me several times, and the only way I could solve it was to restart my computer to unblock my outlook file (or any other files blocked), until I found this solution. Continue reading

Watch Apple’s ‘Hey Siri’ Event Live on Windows 10

appleevent2

Even though I’m a Microsoft fan, I like to know what’s happening on the other side of the spectrum. Today there’s rumor that Apple is launching the iPad Pro and I would like to know how it will stack up against the Microsoft’s Surface Pro which is a wonderful device and runs the whole Windows OS. If you have Windows 10, you can watch Apple’s event on Edge from this link. It’s starting now!

Stop Auto-Resolving Tasks in TFS #VisualStudio

Microsoft-Visual-Studio-icon

When checking-in pending updates to tasks in TFS, Team Explorer usually sets the task as ‘Resolve’ by default. But sometimes you just need to check in part of the updates, and set the update as ‘Associate’. To stop Team Explorer from auto-resolving your task on check-in, you need to follow the next steps:

For Visual Studio 2013

  • Go to: Start -› RegEdit
  • Find Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\TeamFoundation\SourceControl\Behavior]
  • Update Value: “ResolveAsDefaultCheckinAction”=”False”

For Visual Studio 2015

  • Go to: Visual Studio -› Tools -› Options -› Source Control

Now let’s continue those tasks!

& Thanks to Masu for the enlightenment 🙂

Watch Apple’s WWDC event on Windows & Android

I’m no fan of Apple – unlike my brother – but I like to see what they are coming up next with. And WWDC is the place to know the latest updates to Apple’s iOS and their other applications. The problem is that Apple only likes to preach to their faithful, so there are restrictions in place to view the event. Live streaming the keynote requires any of these:

  • Safari on OS X v10.8.5 or later;
  • Safari on iOS 6.0 or later.
  • Streaming via Apple TV (2nd of 3rd generation with software 6.2 or later)

If you have what it takes, you can watch the keynote live here. There’s also an official WWDC app available.

But, what about Windows or Linux or Android? Continue reading
