Hi again, I’m Clive

11 years after my last “about me” post, it was time to post an update, as a lot has changed. As per introduction, I’m Clive Ciappara, I’m a Full Stack Developer who is passionate about everything Microsoft.

After five years working in the iGaming Industry with Betclic, it was time for a change and was offered a job with Codit – a Belgian company using the latest Microsoft technologies whose aim is to help businesses with their integration needs. Currently working on Nebulus – an IOT management system – which is giving me a lot of exposure to different services available on Azure, .Net Core, and WebApi.

That’s my day job. At night, when the heroes come out, I allocate time to continue growing my skill set as a developer by engaging in tutorials on Pluralsight and Channel9, and following online webinars, to always keep up to date with the latest technologies. I also write posts on this blog about issues that I encounter whilst developing, and writing the solutions on how they were solved. I do this to help fellow developers when they encounter similar issues.

Tech-Spark is a voluntary organisation aimed at organising monthly events for the developer community in Malta. Apart from acting as the President, coordinating a committee of 5 people, I also deliver presentations and demos on stage, the latest being about Azure, Logic Apps, and Azure Functions. This year I also had the honor of presenting Microsoft’s one day Global Azure Bootcamp in April, which was a day full of presentations, demos and live coding. For more information about Tech-Spark and our upcoming events, you can visit our website: http://tech-spark.com

Deep Design is the brand under which I build and develop websites and online solutions for customers, and keep updating Deep Design’s main product, Deep Backend. This is an online website management system which is used by clients to update their website easily and from any device.

Extra Curricular Activities

Last year I started participating in 10K and half-marathons to keep challenging myself. When I’m not running, which is very often, I’ll find some time to watch TV shows, and a movie once in a while. I also enjoy reading crime fiction books, particularly by Jeffery Deaver and Simon Kernick. I enjoy photography and design. Oh, and I just love BBQs.

What’s Next?

I’m working on a super secret project but I’ll talk about that later on. I’ll keep updating this page once every year to keep track of my achievements and (hopefully none) any unfulfilled targets, whilst writing the goals and targets for each new year.
That’s it for now. Hope you enjoy reading my posts, and will continue to do so. Let me know in the comments for any observations or suggestions that you might have. Thank you!
