I’m no fan of Apple – unlike my brother – but I like to see what they are coming up next with. And WWDC is the place to know the latest updates to Apple’s iOS and their other applications. The problem is that Apple only likes to preach to their faithful, so there are restrictions in place to view the event. Live streaming the keynote requires any of these:
- Safari on OS X v10.8.5 or later;
- Safari on iOS 6.0 or later.
- Streaming via Apple TV (2nd of 3rd generation with software 6.2 or later)
If you have what it takes, you can watch the keynote live here. There’s also an official WWDC app available.
But, what about Windows or Linux or Android? You’ll need to use VLC Media Player (download it from here if it’s not installed). To view WWDC, open VLC and click on “Media” at the top left. Go to “Open Network Stream” and paste in the following URL of the live Apple event:

This link won’t go live until the event begins. Hopefully this time, Apple will take the adjectives – to explain their software and new updates – down a notch, as after all iOS 9 will be more about bug fixes than new features, so it’s not all perfect 🙂
